Skilled Worker Visas

The Skilled Worker visa allows foreign nationals to live and work in the UK in an eligible job with an approved employer. This route is ideal for individuals who have a confirmed job offer in a skilled occupation and meet specific salary, English language, and sponsorship requirements. With this visa, workers can bring dependants, extend their stay, and even apply for settlement after five years.

Who is the Skilled Worker Visa for?

The Skilled Worker visa is designed for individuals who have been offered a job in the UK in sectors experiencing skill shortages, such as healthcare, engineering, IT, construction, and education. It replaces the old Tier 2 (General) work visa and is a more streamlined, points-based system.

Applicants must meet certain criteria, including having a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from a UK employer licensed by the Home Office. The job offer must be at the appropriate skill and salary level. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate their ability to communicate in English, have sufficient funds, and pass background and identity checks.

Successful applicants are granted leave to remain in the UK for up to 5 years at a time, with the possibility of renewal or applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after five years of continuous lawful residence.
